We decided on the Zinus 12 inch Green Tea Memory Foam mattress (twin)…. Read more »

Enter Freshly. *angels singing* Perfect opportunity to practice my styling skills AND eat a healthy meal with the convenience of a quick zap in the microwave! FINALLY! I’m showing you the guest room all finished. Which is code for “finished for now”, because we all know no room gets finished. When it does, that means it’s time to redo it, amiright? I used a lot of what I had on hand, but I supplimented with some smart buys and thrifted items… Chair was a craigslist find. The throw, wreath, and pitcher were from Target. Want to easily get the Cottage look in your bedroom? My take on Cottage Style is a cozy, collected dwelling full of quirky pieces, a signature color pop, and rustic touches softened by some well-placed florals and ruffles….a kinda Rachel Ashwell meets Jojo Gaines vibe. I’ve been wanting a statement piece in this… Read more »
Going thru old blog posts on ::cottage instincts:: has been super interesting as well as super weird. Like reading an old diary. Part “hey, I’m a pretty good writer/decorator/photographer” and part “oh hell no.” Anyway, I’m kickin’ it back Old School and rehashing a few posts I thought would be fun to revisit over here. Like the time I was contacted by Better Homes and Gardens. And I thought it was spam and almost deleted it. They… Read more »
So we all love us some vintage aqua Ball jars, yeah? Like seriously adore that perfect shade of aqua and their galvanized zinc lids. I want to marry them. I thought it might be interesting to share a bit of my history as it collided with those jars because, well, I have connections.
Sublime. Ineffable. Unique. Maybe some of you Bright Lights remember my first blog ::cottage instincts::? I just can’t get that beloved nest out of my mind. Other than being supremely beautiful and including all my favorite colors in nature (robin’s egg blue and earthy naturals), it represents so much of my decorating (and life) philosophy.
In my newly reignited passion for blogging, I’ve decided there are a couple kinda sorta important things I need to do to avoid the Sticky Stucks.
Ever since we moved into our new-build cottage bungalow, I wanted a real wood top on my island. I pretty much decided we’d replace the wood-look formica within the first year. Yeah. Here’s an old iphone pic of the faker laminate. That stayed in our kitchen for 2.5 years. *sigh* And if blog posts had sound enabled, you’d hear me squealing right here…. We had a master woodworker friend make it for us. And… Read more »
