You know you nailed it when a decor change moves ya to tears.   I’d been missing my aqua couch in my great room after purchasing the new Farlov sofa and loveseat with white slipcovers.     As much as I love white couches in others homes, I really loved the statement my aqua sofa made in this space.   … Read more »

Spring has sprung around the Cottage this year.   I haven’t decorated for Easter and spring in such an in-your-face-way before, but it was super fun!     I pulled out lots of pinks and greens to go with my pale aqua sofa.     Used some vintage, some repro, some new, some (a lot of) bunnies.     Added some greens to the mantel, with milkglass and tulips…     I know. Chippy corbels and old windows are fabulous…. Read more »

I am over-the-moon excited to be joining 11 other Bloggers today for our Homes for the Holidays Home Tours! When I used to blog at ::cottage instincts:: some of my favorite posts to write were about my mantel and fireplace decor as the seasons changed.     In our current home, the fireplace and mantel are center stage, soaring 2 stories and viewed the moment you walk in my front door.     {Hi Bogart!} I decided to keep things simple this year. Well, as simple as I get.     I crafted the burlap sign…it had been a… Read more »

I already flaunted my aqua and red kitchen in front of God and everyone.     It’s time to let my dining room in on the action. She gets kinda whiney when my aqua cabinets get all the glory.     Again, I’m working the red and aqua with some pretty gutsy green thrown in there.     Because I have six kiddos and 4 grandlittles, I did myself a favor and got some new stockings in miniature size from… Read more »

Welcome to Christmas in my cottage kitchen! Did you know aqua goes with every ding dang color?     I took a risk when I painted my kitchen cabinets Weathered Aqua by Porter Paints.     Our builder warned us against it. Friends raised eyebrows.     But my heart must be obeyed.     And Guys.  I’m so glad I did it’s bidding. I went with a candy cane theme this year. Because red and aqua are my jam… Read more »

After many years of wrestling a tangled web of teeny lights onto a real tree, I got all trendy and bought a 7.5ft flocked tree from Mendards.     You may know I have this love/hate relationship with trends. Well, I had a love connection with flocked trees this year.     Please realize it’s purely a rebound relationship after the years of tenacious arguments with falling needles, dried out branches, sticky sap, and the aforementioned light-fights.     I’m… Read more »

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Except for spring, my birthday, Disney Cruise time, and fall. But this time is pretty good. I decorated my porch when it was still warmish outside and here’s how it shaped up. Because I appreciate you, I’ve added some tips and tricks that every porch-savvy decorator should keep in their arsenal.     Adding an ornament and a bow to a purchased wreath rAAAWWWks my world. It also distracts from the filth… Read more »

I have a history of going overboard in my fall decorating.     Actually, that isn’t entirely true. That history really only started when I discovered the world of decor blogs ’round about 2009.

Since I’ve already established that I like change, you can imagine how impatient I get to change up decor for the seasons.     By end of August, I’m all like “bring on the punkins” {in aqua}.       Happy greens are my go-to pop of color for warmer months, ’cause they’re delicious and play so nicely with my washed aqua blues.       Curtain panels with some pattern and color are a nice change-up too. Especially when… Read more »
