FINALLY!  I’m showing you the guest room all finished. Which is code for “finished for now”, because we all know no room gets finished. When it does, that means it’s time to redo it, amiright?   I used a lot of what I had on hand, but I supplimented with some smart buys and thrifted items…   Chair was a craigslist find. The throw, wreath, and pitcher were from Target. The wall treatment is from Weaber Wallboards that I painted white…. Read more »

Want to easily get the Cottage look in your bedroom?     My take on Cottage Style is a cozy, collected dwelling full of quirky pieces, a signature color pop, and rustic touches softened by some well-placed florals and ruffles….a kinda Rachel Ashwell meets Jojo Gaines vibe.     I love a mix of all things cottage and farmhouse….so when I stumbled upon the stonewashed linen bedding from Oscar and French I knew what direction I wanted to take the… Read more »

My guest room makeover has been a LONG time coming.  For the last 3 years it’s mostly been used as a collection area for ALL THE THINGS. When I decided to really give the space a good makeover, a real identity, we realized we were going to have to start from the bottom up. Literally. Our old queen metal bedframe was in sad shape.  As in squeaky, old, and propped precariously on risers. Not a good sitch for the grandkids… Read more »

There are just so many talented Makers out there. SO many. One of these amazeballs Makers is a friend who I met when I was painting furniture. She was a fellow flipper, and she’s now doing signs!  Take a look at THIS:     Aimee owns a shop on Etsy called The Wordsmith Studio (Instagram: @wordsmith.studio ), and I ADORE her metal signs as well as her painted wood signs! ADORE! I’ve been wanting a statement piece in this… Read more »

When I used to blog at ::cottage instincts:: some of my favorite posts to write were about my mantel and fireplace decor as the seasons changed.     In our current home, the fireplace and mantel are center stage, soaring 2 stories and viewed the moment you walk in my front door.     {Hi Bogart!} I decided to keep things simple this year. Well, as simple as I get.     I crafted the burlap sign…it had been a… Read more »

I already flaunted my aqua and red kitchen in front of God and everyone.     It’s time to let my dining room in on the action. She gets kinda whiney when my aqua cabinets get all the glory.     Again, I’m working the red and aqua with some pretty gutsy green thrown in there.     Because I have six kiddos and 4 grandlittles, I did myself a favor and got some new stockings in miniature size from… Read more »

Welcome to Christmas in my cottage kitchen! Did you know aqua goes with every ding dang color?     I took a risk when I painted my kitchen cabinets Weathered Aqua by Porter Paints.     Our builder warned us against it. Friends raised eyebrows.     But my heart must be obeyed.     And Guys.  I’m so glad I did it’s bidding. I went with a candy cane theme this year. Because red and aqua are my jam… Read more »

After many years of wrestling a tangled web of teeny lights onto a real tree, I got all trendy and bought a 7.5ft flocked tree from Mendards.     You may know I have this love/hate relationship with trends. Well, I had a love connection with flocked trees this year.     Please realize it’s purely a rebound relationship after the years of tenacious arguments with falling needles, dried out branches, sticky sap, and the aforementioned light-fights.     I’m… Read more »

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Except for spring, my birthday, Disney Cruise time, and fall. But this time is pretty good. I decorated my porch when it was still warmish outside and here’s how it shaped up. Because I appreciate you, I’ve added some tips and tricks that every porch-savvy decorator should keep in their arsenal.     Adding an ornament and a bow to a purchased wreath rAAAWWWks my world. It also distracts from the filth… Read more »
