Room makeovers at our house are often a long winding road with lots of pit stops.  And my brain’s GPS sometimes doesn’t really know the ending destination.       I’m ok with that.  I like my rooms to evolve.  And I don’t know how to do photoshop, so putting a mood board together beforehand isn’t an option.     When I received this glorious floral wallpaper from Milton and King Wallpapers, I was excited to create a fresh English… Read more »

Do you ever find that you’ve been doing something decorwise so long that you don’t really know you’ve been doing it? And it’s actually a smart kinda something?     In froufing my home, as I approach yet *another* room up-do, I find I MUST have warm wood pieces.  They ground my cottage aethestic so my rooms don’t float away, and end up looking like a sorbet of pastels. No one really wants to live in an ice cream parlour,… Read more »

This is a sponsored post. See end of post for full disclosure.   Well folks, I finally have a working den/sewing/cra{p}ft room.   It’s right as you come in our front door, so I’m hoping it’ll stay neat and tidy. If not, it’s the perfect opportunity for hubs to build me a sliding barn door, amiright?     I started with the beautiful rug from the folks at Well Woven. I wrote about it in my last post, but will… Read more »

Area rugs can be tricky, amiright? They have to play nice with the other colors you have, as well as any color you add later.     Neutrals certainly have their place…but for a soft color lover like myself I like using something other than jute or non-descript beiges in every room.     I’d always heard oriental or persian rugs are so great because they pick up all the other colors in a space an just become a… Read more »

NOTE: This post includes affiliate links for your convenience. For full disclosure, see bottom of post. You’ll remember my review of the Zinus SmartBases, yeah? We’ve since bought 2 more!     Well, we discovered the good folks at Zinus also make incredible memory foam mattresses too…our son’s bed was in sad shape, and we were expecting company who’d be sleeping in his room. Yikes!     We decided on the Zinus 12 inch Green Tea Memory Foam mattress (twin)…. Read more »

Spring has sprung around the Cottage this year.   I haven’t decorated for Easter and spring in such an in-your-face-way before, but it was super fun!     I pulled out lots of pinks and greens to go with my pale aqua sofa.     Used some vintage, some repro, some new, some (a lot of) bunnies.     Added some greens to the mantel, with milkglass and tulips…     I know. Chippy corbels and old windows are fabulous…. Read more »

I’m trying to learn how to style and tablesettings. Because evidently home decor bloggers need to know how to do this. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I love food. And I certainly love to eat food. The problem is, I don’t really like to cook. Enter Freshly.  *angels singing* Perfect opportunity to practice my styling skills AND eat a healthy meal with the convenience of a quick zap in the microwave! Freshly one-serving, pre-packaged meals are basically the perfect… Read more »

FINALLY!  I’m showing you the guest room all finished. Which is code for “finished for now”, because we all know no room gets finished. When it does, that means it’s time to redo it, amiright?   I used a lot of what I had on hand, but I supplimented with some smart buys and thrifted items…   Chair was a craigslist find. The throw, wreath, and pitcher were from Target. The wall treatment is from Weaber Wallboards that I painted white…. Read more »

Want to easily get the Cottage look in your bedroom?     My take on Cottage Style is a cozy, collected dwelling full of quirky pieces, a signature color pop, and rustic touches softened by some well-placed florals and ruffles….a kinda Rachel Ashwell meets Jojo Gaines vibe.     I love a mix of all things cottage and farmhouse….so when I stumbled upon the stonewashed linen bedding from Oscar and French I knew what direction I wanted to take the… Read more »

My guest room makeover has been a LONG time coming.  For the last 3 years it’s mostly been used as a collection area for ALL THE THINGS. When I decided to really give the space a good makeover, a real identity, we realized we were going to have to start from the bottom up. Literally. Our old queen metal bedframe was in sad shape.  As in squeaky, old, and propped precariously on risers. Not a good sitch for the grandkids… Read more »
